Cubs

CubsWe welcome boys and girls aged between 8 and 10½ into our cub pack.  We meet for 1½ hours each week during term time – this is called a Pack Meeting.

GroupIf your child would like to join us to see whether they like Cubs or to arrange a start date if your child is not quite old enough, please use the Contact Us page on our website.  If they are already in the Beaver Section at age 8 they will automatically move up to Cubs.  Again, once your child has settled into Cubs he/she will be invested as a Cub Scout by making the Cub Scout Promise and receiving badges to be sewn on to their Cub jumper and a Group necker with their uniform.

3rd Wingerworth Cubs meet every Wednesday during term time from 7pm until 8.30pm.  The children are split into small groups called “Sixes” and in each Six the eldest Cub is given the “responsibility” of being the head of the group, known as a Sixer.

climberA range of activities are planned for each term and some recent examples for our pack include hiking, a trip to the fire station, air rifle shooting, climbing, cooking on an open fire and a visit from some reptiles!  We also arrange overnight camps, recently we went to London and slept on HMS Belfast, and we have had more traditional Cub camps under canvas.  We also go on weekend camps with all of the Beavers and Scouts from 3rd Wingerworth Scout Group.

There are many more badges that each Cub can work towards – Details here.

Details of where to sew on the badges can be found here.

Uniform can be purchased at the Chesterfield District Scout Shop
